Product Introduction Technician

Overview

Based in Union City, CA, the PI Technician will provide field engineering support for installation, test, operation, and/or maintenance of equipment. You will also provide technical expertise to subcontractors, project team members and less experienced personnel.

In this role, you will

  • Provide direct technical support to diagnose faults and assess failures;
  • Test, troubleshoot and repair, as required, including replacing parts;
  • Provide input for potential design enhancements that can be developed to improve reliability;
  • Set up and conduct Engineering and Qualification tests; and
  • Review data and provide post-test reports.

This position includes participating in the related function of pilot car and commissioning testing and warranty support.

Day to day tasks:

  1. Diagnose the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction. Perform the repair and test. Provide completed work order documentation. (40%)
  2. Upload software and download logs from network equipment (40%)
  3. Interface with Systems Engineering as part of a team to address technical issues that arise. (10%)
  4. Work with the customer, vendors, and internal engineering resources to identify root cause(s) of safety, reliability and operational concerns and issues. (5%)
  5. Assist with testing and implementing modifications designed to address technical issues and reliability improvements (5%)

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate:

  • Is a high school graduate (or equivalent);
  • Has 5+ years’ experience in a similar role (or equivalent combination of education and experience);
  • Can work independently through the application of acquired knowledge, precedent and judgment based upon standard procedures;
  • Is able to solve straightforward problems and analyze possible solutions using acquired experience and judgment and apply existing guidelines; and
  • Has excellent English communications skills, both written and spoken.

Electrical skills and mechanical skills are highly desirable. It is also helpful to know software diagnostics.
